Are you aged 18-24 and interested in getting your voice heard as part of Leeds’ bid to be European Capital of Culture in 2023?

The Leeds European Capital of Culture 2023 bid is now looking to recruit more young people to their young people’s engagement group: THINKLeeds2023.

The role would include:

  • Being a young ambassador
  • Promoting the Leeds 2023 bid to your own networks
  • Forming ideas to engage young people

They are looking for a group of around 10 and the first meeting will be early May, details TBC.

Background
In 2016, the engagement group for 2023, chaired by Nic Greenan, discussed the need for a young people’s voice within the bid book (which is the book Leeds will present to the judges of the 2023 competition).

A city-wide call out followed to select four young people between the age of 18 – 24 to take part in a trip to visit a city currently hosting European Capital of Culture. A group were selected and went on a three day trip to Aarhus in Denmark who are hosting European Capital of Culture in 2017.

On the group’s return they decided to name the group THINKLeeds2023: The Heart, Imagination, Narrative and Knowledge of Leeds.
